Pasatiempo is a golf neighborhood in Santa Cruz. It is also one of the premier addresses in Santa Cruz, as it is surrounded by a beautiful golf course, and has lovely views. The Pasatiempo golf course has been around since the late twenties and was originally founded by a sporting lady named Marion Hollins in the hills above Santa Cruz,California. Real estate was cheap then, and she needed a sizable piece to create a golf course. She was an accomplished horsemen and an excellent golfer, and her dream was to build a golf course. She did so, amongst much fanfare and celebrity attendance of the times. As was the case of many developers of that past depression era, she turned a large pile of money into a small one, but seemed to have fun doing it. Though she lost ownership of it, the course survives and the club house of Pasatiempo is named in her honor, Hollins House.

The golf course is now just a few minutes from the center of Santa Cruz, and had some top golf course designers of the day lay out the course. Today the golf course is ringed with million dollar luxury homes with a variety of styles. There are a number of William Wurster homes here and there, as he was an architect she favored. This gated community has quite a pretty setting with, a wide variety of homes and sizes. Pasatiempo has other amenities such as a pool, clubhouse with very good food, tennis courts, and a driving range. The homes range from older places to some modern newer ones that have great ocean views. The terrain is rolling with most homes having some slope, some treed, and others with beautiful oceanviews or vistas of the golf course and mountains as a backdrop.
