Prospect Heights is an area that backs up to the De Laveaga Golf Course on the north eastern side of Santa Cruz. Prospect Heights has homes from the 50’s and newer, with several different developments done at different times. Most of the streets are continuations of those in the Banana Belt, streets like Pacheco, San Juan, Marnell, and Trevethan. There are others of course, but they and Prospect Heights Drive and Morrissy Blvd., are the main streets to get around. This area is a little bit warmer than even the Banana Belt because the heat of the area backs up against the hills, on which is topped by De Laveaga Golf course and the Frisbee Golf Course. The Frisbee golf course is pretty cool and few communities have one. It is also a nice hike, when it is not being played. On the southern end of the Prospect Heights area is a development that was done in the 80’s. You can tell because the homes are much larger and more modern than the smaller single story homes that dot the streets. The area has a school that serves it, called De Laveaga Elementary. It is a good school and has a nice central setting. Prospect Heights is accessed off of Morrissy Boulevard, La Fonda, and off of the freeway.
