Rio Del Mar oceanfront homes are one of the many things that Rio Del Mar possesses. The area was changing from the old lumber and sugar barons play area to a “resort” it had its’ growing problems during the first great depression, which similarly affected the competing community of Seacliff There were places on the sand, a nice night club and a golf course. Well after some of that waned as ocean storms and the ravages of fire change the fortunes of those places, the real estate remained. The Beach Drive area of Rio De Mar is one of largest, and only stretches in Santa Cruz county where you can walk across the road, or off your front deck, and be on the sand. But the beaches are only part of the charm of Rio Del Mar. Golfwas one of the original draws here as well, and there are many lovely homes in some of the best neighborhoods in Rio Del Mar are surrounding the golf course. Rio Del Mar has the most plentiful amount of trees of any of the ocean area beach communities. Located only 20 minutes south of Santa Cruz and in between Seacliff and Seascape, it has a nice cooler location in the county.
