The Seabright area of east Santa Cruz has an interesting mix of old and new homes. Some of the most fabulous big Victorians grace the downtown Santa Cruz edge of Seabright, on Oceanview Avenue, while the yacht harbor and the castle beach area have small beach cottages, used by vacationing beachgoers for generations. The area has a mix of bungalows, new homes, ocean view modern, as well as some condominiums that overlook the yacht harbor.

Seabright has a mix of small businesses and a definite different feel from the west Santa Cruz area. The streets have mixes of old and new homes and much of it borders either on the ocean, the San Lorenzo River or the yacht harbor. It has fun local restaurants such as Aldo’s on the yacht harbor to the Seabright Brewery to the Crepe Place in the business district, which offer a variety of fares, and different feel completely, yet are only about 5 minutes apart. The area has a mild climate and is a bit more protected from the winds of the west side. The area is laid back, and does not have as much of the student influence as the west side does, because it is further away from UCSC. The Seabright area is a great place to live if you enjoy water sports, with its’ easy access to the yacht harbor and castle beach.
