The upper west side Santa Cruz has one of its’ largest developments called University Terrace. These homes sit on mostly level terrain and have lovely ocean and arroyo views on their western flanks. These homes were a mixture of small 3 bedroom single levels, to 5 bedrooms 2 story ones. They generally range from 1200 square feet to about 2300 square feet. Most I believe were built between the 70’s-80’s and there were a few different offshoot developments. They tend to range in price from the $700,000-1,1 million dollar range This upper west side Santa Cruz area was built to house the growing UCSC staff and faculty as the university grew. Nobel drive is the main thoroughfare to these homes. There are a variety of streets, with names like Calvin, Segri, McMillan, Seaborg, Northrup and Seton. These homes are generally contemporary in style, and many are being remodeled. West Side Santa Cruz homes vary in styles and sizes. The homes that are on the western side have beautiful arroyo views and basically a nature preserve in the arroyo which make for great bird watching and a pretty area with no neighbors looking on your backyard. There are many activities for individuals and the family here. This area is still favored by staff and rentals for students are popular too due to it’s proximity.
