The Westlake neighborhood is built around a lake and is located in the upper west side of Santa Cruz,CA. Well that is the name, but Westlake is really a pond. The pond is the heart of Westlake because it is haven for many ducks and geese. Kids can fish in Westlake, there is plenty of grassy lawn to chase each other, play Frisbee or throw the ball to the dog. It is a delightful center piece to this older development. Westlake is one of those older developments when land was not a precious commodity on which to build, and Santa Cruz, California wasn’t an expensive little beach town. The homes are mostly ranch style and the lots tend to be bigger. The elementary school, Westlake Elementary is a short walk away. This is one of those neighborhoods where people take care of their places and it shows a pride of ownership. Most of these homes start at about $800,000 and go to the mid millions.
