Real Estate Agent
Gretchen Koitz, a Washington D.C. native, is the principal of The Koitz Group at Long and Foster Real Estate. In her 22 years in assisting buyers and sellers in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, Gretchen has focused on hands-on service and establishing strong client relationships. This is because she understands that a property, regardless of price, holds and reflects a lifetime investment for each client. As a respected professional, she has received various awards for both achievement and for client satisfaction. In addition, she volunteers her time in an office of over 200 agents to train those new to the profession. In her “previous lives”, Gretchen worked on Capitol Hill as an administrative assistant to a Member of Congress and also worked in the non-profit sector.
The Koitz Group is a multi-generational team that combines the many skills that make the group successful in helping buyers and sellers succeed in the Washington DC area real estate market. While Gretchen brings experience and contract knowledge to the table, Kevin Koitz (son and partner) is a top producing agent as well as a marketing specialist. Kevin was born in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Georgetown Day School. From there, he went to Stanford University, where he received a degree in e-commerce and marketing. In 2002, he brought his marketing expertise back to the D.C. area and joined Gretchen to form The Koitz Team. He started applying some of the same successful marketing models he had studied and witnessed first hand in Silicon Valley and the result was a program of highly successful customized marketing campaigns. He continues as the marketing guru for the group, and has also achieved an impressive sales volume.
The Koitz Team became The Koitz Group with the addition of California native, Penelope Frissell. Prior to joining our group, Penelope was Operations Manager for a well known local title company and brought with her extensive knowledge and experience in all phases of real estate transactions. Her roster of trusted contacts and colleagues ensures a smooth and well-planned purchase and sale; and her enthusiasm for her work and her clients is unsurpassed!
As a group, we respect each other’s talents and skills and defer to each other in order to maximize those skills. As a buyer or seller, you benefit. Looking for Washington DC luxury real estate? We keep on top of both resales and on new construction throughout the area. Some of our clients pinpoint neighborhoods of interest and will, for instance, request information only on Kalorama real estate, where embassy style homes and New York style coops co-exist on tree lined streets. Another client favorite is Cleveland Park real estate, known for its many late 19th century homes and townhomes and its community feel. Then, of course, there's Georgetown DC real estate - probably the most recognized of our luxury DC neighborhoods. Here, federal-style homes (some of the oldest in the city) and foreign embassies sit close to high-end shopping and dining.
Buying and selling real estate in the Washington, D.C. area is not for sissies! Our contracts are long and complex, our housing choices and neighborhoods run the entire spectrum, and it’s important to have knowledge about city affairs and growth opportunities. We can help.

Washington Real Estate Agents
My professional background is in trading and banking. I worked in New York as a grain trader and eventually branched into banking as a money market and bank securities trader, and corporate lending officer. In Washington I worked as an international business consultant for overseas clients from the Caribbean to the Far East.
These experiences developed qualities that I put to use everyday in my career as a realtor. Things like good communication and listening skills, as well as the ability to be a voice of reason during disputes between buyers and sellers. Visit my Washington DC Real Estate website.
