The resort village of Corolla is located on the Atlantic Ocean in Currituck County on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I have been helping people buy and sell real estate in the Corolla area since 1989 and have experienced the growth of the area first-hand.

My very first sale was a vacant residential lot in Ocean Sands which I sold for for $40,000. If only I could have scooped up all of those cheap lots I would be telling a different story now, because that same lot and lots just like it are now selling for over $200,000! At that time, there was an ocean front lot in the old Corolla area known as Corolla Village that I had listed during the 90's recession for which I eventually found a buyer who was willing to pay $150,000. Of course I did not have the money at the time to invest (not many of us did) but I used the experience to learn the "ins and outs" of the Corolla area.

Corolla has many subdivisions and communities so there is usually something that suits every buyer's taste and needs. Corolla spans ocean to sound, with Rt. 12/Ocean Trail running through it. Sunrise lovers, beach addicts and weekly vacation rental buyers often prefer to concentrate on properties located east (ocean) side of Ocean Trail.

Primary residence/retirees, other non-rental second-home buyers and sunset lovers often prefer to look on the west (sound) side of Ocean Trail because it feel a little quieter and in the summer season.
