Mission, BC was founded in 1892. Originally inhabited by the Stó:lō First Nations people, Mission was named after St. Mary's Mission. The aim of this mission was to spread Christianity to the First Nations people.

Mission is located approximately 70 kilometers east of Vancouver. It is north of the Fraser River, east of Maple Ridge.

City Of Langley

City of Langley - Born March 15, 1955

Not to be confused with the Township of Langley
 

The City of Langley separated from the much larger Township of Langley and incorporated on March 15, 1955. Historically, the Langley Prairie, as it was know then, developed in a much more urban manner and had much different needs than the rural area.

The Langley Prairie quickly became the commercial and business hub of the area. The residents however felt that the much larger Township had much more political prowess and this lead to dissent and ultimate separation.
