Yes Belize is famous for diving – offering some of the best dive
spots in the Western Hemisphere. The Great Barrier Reef (the
second largest in the world, after Australia, and a UNESCO World
Heritage Site) runs for 260 km along its Caribbean coastline.
Belize is not known as a golfing destination. In fact if
you’re a
Belize real estate investor looking for a vacation home on a
golf course in Belize, your only option – right now - is to
purchase at Consejo Shores. The project is located near
Corozal in the northern part of the country, close to the border
with Mexico. Here you can play to your heart's content on a 9
hole golf course.
There’s also a completed golf course on Caye Chapel which you can
get to on a 10 minute flight from Belize City. Its 18 holes
take up the entire island - so there’s no space for your golf
condo - but there’s certainly a bit of cache in playing here
on an island surrounded on all sides by the azure waters of the
Caribbean. The other place for a round is the Roaring River
executive-type 9-hole course near Belmopan.
Looking to the future, we note that Dreamscapes of Belize, a master
planned community in the San Creek district of Belize, has
announced plans for a 9 hole golf course. The project
lies close to the Mullins River and within a 15 minute walk to the
Caribbean Sea. So perhaps one to come back to later if the
developers complete on their master plan.
So, for now, golf choices are limited in Belize. The may be
more courses developed in the future by developers keen to attract
the golfing demographic and raise project land values. But
for now, if you’re a real golfing enthusiast, you’ll find other
countries in Central America have more options for golf
property. So look elsewhere. Or take up diving!
