Hacienda Heights: Quiet hillside neighborhood nestled in the Puente Hills of San Gabriel Valley

Nestled amid the Puente Hills about 20 miles due east from downtown Los Angeles, homebuyers will find a jewel: Hacienda Heights real estate. 

Hacienda Heights homes offer buyers the chance for small town living close enough to Los Angeles to make a commute or catch a game at Dodgers Stadium.  The unincorporated community, which spans 11 square miles, is located south of the City of Industry, north and east of Whittier, and north of La Habra Heights.  The Puente Hills that flank the community on the south, west, and partially on the east make the view from these hills some of the best in the San Gabriel Valley.  While mostly residential now, the Haas avocado, now the standard avocado internationally, was born in these hills.  Other crops including oranges, walnuts and avocados once grew here.  The fields were transformed into a residential community in 1926.  The community now boasts a population of  ~53,000.  Hacienda Heights’ public schools such as Grazide Elementary School have garnered top scores on statewide tests and the community offers a wide range of activities, including mountain bike riding on canyon trails, softball and yoga.  Hacienda Heights homes show median listing prices ranging from $400,000 to $500,000.
