More on Nanaimo

Yesterday I was telling you a little about my town. This morning  I'm making little hand animal shadows on the wall as the sun pours into the kitchen. A familiar sound causes me to shift my gaze over the Nanaimo River estuary to catch a beaver, climbing from the harbour over the calm waters of Georgia Straight. The beaver is the fixed wing type used by Baxter Air to fly comuters,  shoppers and others to Vancouver, not the furry rodent that is our national symbol found in our lakes and streams and on the front of our nickel.

The little float planes along with their wheeled cousins that utilize the Cassidy Airport and the fleet of large ships of the BC Ferry Corp. are the links that have been increasingly bringing more new residents to live in the Nanaimo area. These new residents have helped to stimulate and diversify our economy and have been a factor in driving up our real estate prices, which are comparatively still a bargain.

Well, there goes another beaver which is my signal to get moving too, (I still have a day job to go to). If you want further info. about Nanaimo for yourself or a client, drop me a line.
