Lets all take a moment to say a prayer for family and friends of 24 yr old Lindsay Buziak, who's body was found Saturday in a home listed for sale in the Gordon Head neighbourhood of Saanich (Victoria). Ms Buziak had worked as a REALTOR in Vancouver prior to her position with Re/Max Camosun in Victoria B.C.
She was found dead in a vacant house which was listed by another REALTOR. Police are investigating and are seeking the person who called 911 asking them to check on the person inside the property on Saturday afternoon. It is unclear who the person Buziak had arranged the showing for was.
Buziak's father Jeff, a commercial REALTOR in Calgary, said "someone phoned Lindsay to show a house and they killed her."
Buziak was born in Victoria and got her real estate license after graduating from school. She was one of the youngest REALTOR members of the Victoria Board.
Anyone knowing anything about this crime is asked to contact the Victoria police department.

(Wed Feb 06/08) - Victoria police confirmed yesterday that Lindsay Buziak was stabbed, which was likely the cause of her death. At a news conference held yesterday, police confirmed they received a 911 call at 6:15pm Saturday from a person saying they were concerned about the person inside the house. Moments later, police received a second 911 call from inside the house, made by the person who found Buziak's body. Police did not disclose whether the same person made both calls. When police arrived at the scene, they were met by 2 witnesses, who have yet to be identified. Both individuals are cooperating with police.
Asked if they have any suspects, police responded by saying "they're interviewing many people". We will get back to you," said Const. Brad Brajcich. "We will be pursuing all angles regarding information we receive."

What a shame. My prayers are with her family. What a shame, I feel so sorry for her family and the other REALTORS of the area who are now likely showing houses in fear.
Sad to here, so close to home too.
Our prayers to Lindsay and her family.
Aaron mentioned that to me today - I have to say this is horrible. What kind of person thinks they have the right! - Jeff and family - you have the support of Real Estate Webmasters. This is truly a tragedy and although kind words at this time are likely little comfort, I offer them just the same. We are only an hour or so away from where this happened and it is far to close to home - but close to home or a world away, no-one deserves to have their children taken from them.
Jim- Sorry to hear about that...it is truly sad to hear of people in our industry (or any industry) that are victims of these horrific crimes. My prayers go out to her family and friends.Jeff, if you read this, please accept our heartfelt condolences.
Wow that is unbelievable and horrible. A reminder that you should never meet someone at a home. Always meet a new customer at your office so that people know where you are at and who you are with. My prayers go out to her family.
Our hearts and prayers go out to Lindsays family. This is just awful.
Horrible tragedy. Prayers are with Lindsay's family.
Absolutely horrible. Such a young person with such a future ahead of her. Hope they find and prosecute the person who did this and give them no mercy.
This is so sad and has happened to both male and female agents. If I do offer to meet a stranger at a vacant listing (& most sellers leave their properties during listings) I follow-up on the phone number given to me & leave all the information for my husband, who awaits my phone call as soon as the showing is over (or will sometimes call me during the showing). Of course, this wouldn't stop a would-be attacker but at least they could possibly catch him! Open houses are a different story. So many agents sit them alone and attacks have happened during open houses, too.
This is truly a tragedy and my thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I really don't understand why there hasn't been more publicity to make people aware of what has happened. This brings home to me that we need to develop a support system that will help to create a safe environment for realtors to work in. Situations where agents are meeting the unknown client will have to be assed differently. This may mean that agents have to start approaching initial meetings with all the potential negative outcomes and work in twos. The end result will hopefully reduce the realtor being seen as an easy target for the predators that unfortunately exist in our society today.
That is very sad. I wish the family the best and hope that every agent that reads this takes it as a reminder to be safe while showing homes.
OMG! I just heard about Lindsay. I am also an Agent in Chicago. I also sold cars for seven years. During that time, I would have one of my fellow sales consultants go on demo rides with me(one of the guys). Now I will have my husband go with me on showings. How sad!!!

Woah. That's a little close to home. That's too bad... I hope they find out who did it.
