Surfing is one of those pursuits that is part physical, part mental and part spiritual. Sometimes, there is no good surf, but there are always pretty sites to see to soothe the mind and spirit. Surfing has the youth of Santa Cruz firmly in its grasp, as it should. With the area rich in natural beauty and consistent surf, the real pleasures come on the cheap. What was once the sport of kids, baseball or football, the youth of Santa Cruz, and the general populace, primarily go surfing. The estate of things are such, if it is free and available, people will do it.

Santa Cruz has a wide variety of real estate and topography. There are point breaks, reef breaks and shore breaks. Knowing where to find them, and when they are active, is the local knowledge. What is not local knowledge though is that Santa Cruz has been rated as one of the Top 10 spots in the world for waves by Transworld Surf Magazine. They ranked these and more in their surf video game for Sony Playstation

The Top Ten

1)      Rincon, Puerto Rico

2)      Sydney ,Australia

3)      Kula Beach, Bali

4)      Rio De Janiero, Brazil

The compilation of the Top 10 Surf Spots takes into account of variety of factors in addition to consistent waves. Some of the other factors they looked at are the night life, general crime and city identity. If you want to check out the Santa Cruz night life and see what is happening, something always is, just like the surf. If you want to check out some of the surf cams click on the areas you want to see. It is pretty cool tool. If you are thinking you want to check out the area, go to www.propertyinsantacruz.com and see what types of homes we live in, there is a wide variety. The area has a lot more to offer than just surf, but the bounty of Santa Cruz County runs from the water to the wineries in the mountains. Check out some of my other blogs .
