The lovely San Lorenzo Valley, which is at the northern end of Santa Cruz County has gotten a page in the AAA's March 2008 magazine.  The magazine, which gives drivers helpful automotive information on things to be concerned of, as well as things to do, has some interesting articles of places off the beaten path. Just as millions of people flock to Santa Cruz and Capitola from the bay area and beyond, we locals go to others back yards for enjoyment as well. The old grass is greener on the other side of the fence, I guess. Well, come on and visit one of our local gems.

Well I don't go out as much, and as far as green goes, the San Lorenzo Valley is about as green as it gets. The lush mountains, with their towering redwoods, and quaint little communities evoke history back of the days of the logger and mountain folk who tamed the area. The top of the San Lorenzo Valley is crowned with Boulder Creek, and the lower end held by Felton.

If you are going to take a scenic drive to this beautiful area, start in Santa Cruz and drive up Highway 9. It is only about a 15  minute drive up this portion. In Felton you can stop at Taqueria Vallarta and get a good burrito before you continue your jaunt, exploring the area. If you want to go to one of our lovely local park such as Quail Hollow Park or the famed small guage rail road of Roaring Camp. The train has a trip in the summer that goes all the way to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, that is really pretty and a delight to do.

To read about this article and find out why this might be a great day trip from the bay area, or even if you are a local to take company to,  read about the San Lorenzo Valley.
