I love Santa Cruz (my family lives in Gilroy & San Jose).  My husband and I were going to buy our future snowbird condo in AZ this winter while prices are down (we can afford Scottsdale!).  However, I was kidding my husband that with falling CA prices we should buy one in CA instead!  Since he lived in S. CA for 20 years he was all for it.  However, his crazy ex-girlfriend is from Santa Cruz and I don't want to get too close to her!  LOL!

Yes it is still pretty and we do get all types of people. While our general values are down, many like yourself Judy are able now to get back if they want to. If you make it here, drop me a line. Low end condos are about 300K for Santa Cruz, affordable for most in Ca.

We both love AZ (I love the heat - the dry heat that is) and Scottsdale is still more affordable than CA.  Even though your area is beautiful I prefer southern CA.  My husband took me to his old haunts like Hollywood & Venice Beach and I fell in love - with the warmer weather and the crazy people.

Not that So Cal has the market on crazy people, but the weather is generally warmer, not as warm as Scottsdale though. Sure are some great investment opportunities. The southern part of the state, and San Diego  area is really hard hit.. Good opportunities if the credit markets start to get going again.
