Capitola had it's final celebration of it's birthday September 2, 2009. It was a gorgeous day, and a beautiful evening.

Music for the final concert series was provided by the Digbeats, who had us all rockin out. The weather was great with mild temperatures and puffy clouds above. The clouds were an aberration, but they were beautiful with the moon peaking through them later in the evening. The moon shining on the water, peeking in and out of lazily drifting clouds, was really pretty and many pulled out their cameras to capture the moment.

This was truly a fun Capitola event. Those of us who earn our living helping others buy Capitola homes, know this is what our friends and clients will like about Capitola. Real estate is varied and there are cheap beach condos for the new homebuyers as well as Capitola oceanview beach homes for those who have more to invest. Events like this make people yearn to live here.

Capitola is a beautiful little seaside community. Picturesque is one way to describe Capitola by the sea, while some say it is like a little Mediterranean village. While it's main business is tourism,it does have a fishing pier and moorings that one can rent should you come by sea, instead of land. The Capitola wharf is fun for fishing, but there is a restaurant out there, from which one can have a pretty view of the ocean whilst dining. You can see Opal Cliffs nearby as well a some surfing at Privates or Sharks or the Hook surf spots.During stormy wheather it is a fun adventure to hoof it out there for a bowl of chowder. We didn't have any of those concerns this day, but the puffy clouds were unusual, and provided a beautiful counter play to the blue skies.

Capitola's a place that is fun to enjoy, walk around, shop and dine. While there is parking at the meters( have plenty of quarters as the Capitola meter cops are johnny on the spot), the bigger lot is just above city hall. At the end of the evening of the celebration was an event that I have not seen in Capitola for 20+ years, a fireworks celebration. This event was funded in part by donations by from of the local business such as RedTree and Devcon construction. Many kudos for standing up and supplying a large check to fund the gap for the dazzling fireworks display. Thanks Gary. There were many ooh's and aah's and when we thought that the display ended, only to be delighted with another burst.

There will be other events that are local fundraisers for our kids school programs and local charities. This was a way of giving back to the community, some of what we as citizens, earned by volunteering in events like the upcoming Begonia Festival and Capitola Art and Wine.Come and enjoy Capitola Beach and the rest of Santa Cruz County. Be a volunteer here or in your community.

The Santa Cruz California Beaches are on of the things that attract people here. The area has a vibrant array of communities, located on the north end of Monterey Bay, and is home to artisans, beach goers, hi tech types, and college students. There is plenty of natural beauty from the Santa Cruz Beach areas and other coastal beach towns like Rio Del Mar,to the little mountain communities. Let my 30 years or local knowledge and 20 years of real estate help you find the right home or property in Santa Cruz..As a Santa Cruz Seniors Real Estate Specialist,( SRES) let me help find a place for your parents or you that meets your needs now and in the future.
