Located in Denver from 8th Avenue to Alameda, and from Broadway
to Downing Street, you’ll find Governor’s Park, also known as
Speer. The neighborhood gets its nickname from the fact that the
major Denver transportation artery, Speer Boulevard, goes right
through the middle of this neighborhood. The cornerstone of this
community is the Governor’s Mansion, located at 400 East 8th
Avenue.
The
Governor's Park real estate area is located right near the
center of Denver’s downtown region. Residents of the area can enjoy
a variety of social and cultural activities and some of Denver’s
best-loved venues.
Speer Boulevard, and the neighborhood, was originally named for
Robert Speer. Robert Speer was the mayor of Denver from 1904 to
1912.
There are many different options when it comes to home buyers in
Speer. You will find a number of single family homes, as well as
high rise condominiums and apartments. The neighborhood of Speer
tends to be better educated than much of the city, with nearly two
thirds of adult residents having earned college degrees. Average
prices for a single family home are around $285,000.
Speer is conveniently located. It features easy access to major
Denver transportation routes. In addition, Speer is five minutes
