Region’s Housing Market Still Soft

Home sales declined last month around the Pikes Peak region, although real estate agents remain optimistic that activity will pick up as spring approaches.
Single-family home sales fell nearly 11 percent in February when compared with the same month a year ago, according to the Pikes Peak Association of Realtors.
As sales slid, the supply of homes on the market surged by almost 25 percent in February from a year ago.
Despite a larger supply and reduced demand, homes that did sell fetched higher prices; the median price for homes sold in February rose 4.9 percent to $214,950.

Colorado Springs A Great Place To Live

Colorado Springs tied with Portland, Ore., for third place in Earth Day Network’s environmental ranking of 72 U.S. cities based on more than 200 environmental, health and quality of life indicators.  
 
The Springs ranked first among mid-sized cities, those with populations of 250,000 to 500,000.  
 
First overall went to Fargo, N.D. Second was Burlington, Vt. Denver ranked 13th. Detroit finished last.  
 
The report, released Thursday, evaluated toxic and waste issues, air quality, drinking and surface water, quality of life, parks and recreation opportunities, human and public health and global warming and climate

Local Builders Offer Helpful Hints For Having A Home Built.

Mary Pulvermacher and her husband knew exactly where they wanted to build their home. They found a lot, they found a builder and, nearly 20 years later, they are still pleased with the neighborhood and their home.
