'My music at work'

One of the things that keeps me sane at work is the ability to listen to music while I'm working. Uploading/emailing/coding can get very tedious and repetitive, but listening to music helps me stay awake for those 8 hours on a computer every day.
A university in Windsor did a study with 56 software designers (41 male, 15 female) from different companies over five weeks. Results showed that the quality of work was dramatically lower without music, although tasks were taking longer to complete.
I guess it really depends on the type of job you have. For example if you were a graphic designer, that extra time on each task might be worth the extra creativity. However, for programmers who are less focused on creativity and more focused on getting the job done on time, it might be better to not listen to music.
From my personal experience, music helps keep me focused - if I'm not listening to music, I tend to zone out if the job is too repetitive and I might start making mistakes. Listening to music keeps me sharp and on point. The type of music I listen to varies from Death Metal, to Jazz, to Rock, to Celtic, and almost anything else you can think of - I guess it really depends on my mood for the day.
I know this is more targetted to employees who work on computers, but for realtors - do you listen to music when you drive clients around, or do you think it's too distracting. There are so many different angles to music that I can't talk about in one simple blog post, but overall I am thankful for the ability to listen to my music at work :)
