ePerks To Sue Blogger - Freedom Of Speech Threatened

Posted May 26, 2008 @ 4:57 pm, Viewed by 1576 Visitors, Read 1687 Times.

ePerks is one of those 3rd party lead generation companies and is probably the worst of the worst. Most of us despise these companies but you have got to read the lengths this company has gone to in order to silence a Blogger from discussing the way they do business and have treated people from his own blog.

The story has been posted on Active Rain and is one you really should check out since this is an infringement on our Freedom Of Speech rights.

EDIT 6/6/2008: More legal action is thrown out there, this time at Trace Richardson over at BrokerScience.com.

Also another real good article on this has been written by Andy Beard iHype & ePerks - How To Kill A Startup.

I read his blog, but have any formal proceedings happened yet, or is it just threats at this point?

So far threats, Vlad was notified that he was being sued and that the procedings would take place in California. Today he said he was expecting to be served with papers but with today being a holiday he said he expects them tomorrow or very soon. I think if we put enough online pressure on them they may back off. What's your take on this Morgan?

Go to our forums here and do a search for eperks and you'll read that they were trouble from the start.  Sounds like they have very heavy handed tactics whether soliciting or censoring.

I noticed a lot of people on your active rain blog (that didnt seem to be activerain members) posted basically talking about how great eperks was http://brokerscience.com/legal/cease-desist/eperks-brand-destruction/ This blog might help explain why.  Basically they are paid to go around posting postive comments by eperks

100% correct! ePerks hires bloggers to praise them and they act as if they are agents, always anonymously. My most recent AR blog only allows members to post which has not allowed those hit and run paid blooger. In that link above Trace Richardson wrote a very revealing post about ePerks, their owner Ben Behrouzi and his next project, an online pay per post spam company. Another thing I found funny was that if you google eperks with your StumbleUpon toolbar "on" you will see were first Stumled by a 25 year guy in Malasia praising what a great company they are. What the heck does he know about a 3rd party real estate lead generation company in the US??? Lol, they are paying for cheap labor (bloggers). What do you think they paid a guy in Malasia to Stumble them? What quality of  spammers bloggers do you think iHype will be hiring?

I'm not sure why the post did not record the way I wrote it? Spam & spammers were posted with the "strike through" option used. Is there a glitch in our posting system?

I thought it was only on my end.  I can never get bold or italics or other formatting to work in my comments.

Judy, I posted it in the forums.

I was just notified that the comment WYSIWYG is working properly know now so I'm testing here.

"know" should have had a "Strike Through" and does not, smiley working.

For the first time I've been able to format paragraphs.  It was always one large comment post before.  I haven't tried anything else.

Yeah I saw your strikethrough on the main page, but not here. Strange

Ben has threatened us as well. You can find our response here: http://brokerscience.com/re-web/brokerscience/eperks-ben-behrouzi-brokerscience/

More legal actions insinuated by ePerks CEO Ben Behrouzi. I edited the post above to include that link and another link to a very good article by Andy Beard.

If you have any interest in the rights of bloggers and this story you might want to read these posts, and the one over at BHB.
