Reno Eye Care At A Higher Level

photo David Hughes

So you just moved to Reno and you can't see a darn thing, what should you do? You call Dr. Rowan of the Eyezone.  You will get personal service above and beyond what you have come to expect. Dan Rowan and his staff embodies the Reno spirit of what a small town like Reno is all about. I am so tired of big corporate impersonal chains that advertise two pair for the price of one.  Is that really what you are looking for?  Your eyes are pretty important and Dr. Rowan will treat you like you are his only patient. "They remember your name", that's right, I can pop in anytime for an adjustment and have never had to wait. Donna is one of the main reasons this office runs so smoothly and efficiently. This is one stop shopping for all your eye care needs including…

Reno Pond Guy

photo David Hughes

If you are looking for a water feature, pond, stream, waterfall or anything you can imagine, Archie Samples can create it. Six years ago he did our water feature which includes all of the above and we could not be happier with his work. And best of all Archie comes back every year for any type of maintenance or questions that we could come up with.

Archie has been in business for years and when he builds a pond he will do it right. From the right filter system, pumps and materials that he uses you can be assured your water feature will be done correctly. One thing he did for us was to match all of the rocks he uses to the surroundings so everything looks natural.

Does Archie know his fish and how to take care of them, you betcha. In Reno your pond will…

Del Webb Reno,They Have A Policy

photo David Hughes

"What is it going to take to put you in this house today", are you buying a house or a car? Walk into the sales center at Sierra Canyon at Somersett and let me know if that is how they make you feel.  I am a big proponent of Somersett and Sierra Canyon but I have a pet peeve and it is the way potential buyers are treated when they walk into the Del Webb sales center in Somersett.

There have been times when I'm showing houses in Somersett and my buyer  wanted to just take a look  at their models to see if it is something they are interested in. Before you are able to look at the models they want you to fill out a form, a survey, a questionnaire, a poll, (this is sarcasm) there are not that many forms it just seems that way.  Oh yeah, that infamous policy,…

Save Northgate Golf Course

photo David Hughes

1989 headline in Golf  magazine ''Northgate is one of the best new courses in the country".

2009 headline from the Reno Gazette Journal "'RSCVA closes Northgate due to budget shortfalls".

Tom Lehman shot the course record back in 1991, a stellar 62 when the Ben Hogan tour came through here. How did it come to this?  That course was in pristeen condition and a layout that was one of the best in Reno. Times have changed, there are a lot more options for golfers in the Truckee Meadows and a lot of the courses are struggling for players.

Dave Aiazzi of the Reno City council has started a website called http://savenorthgate.ning.com/ , I think he has a great idea to turn it into a regional park that could be used for music type blues festivals etc..…

Reno Tenants Victims Of Foreclosures

photo David Hughes

About 40% of all evictions in Washoe County are tenants who have done nothing wrong.  They pay their rent and then the sheriff shows up at their door to give them 3 days to move out. The owner of the home did not make the payments and the unsuspecting tenant gets the boot once the foreclosure is final. If you are one of these landlords please contact your tenant and let them know what is going on. Yes, you are mad at the bank, the economy, whatever, there is no reason to possibly put good, hard working people who pay their rents on the street.

Fortunately, there is a bill in the state legislature right now that would notify these tenants as soon as the foreclosure process starts and they would be given 60 days notice to find another place to live. There…

There will be 300 foreclosure that will be sold this week in Nevada, 39 of them will be in Reno and the rest will be in Las Vegas. Banks are increasingly turning to auction companies like Hudson and Marshall to sell their vast inventories of unsold foreclosures. According the National Associaion of Realtors in the fourth quarter of 2008 45% of all real estate transactions were foreclosures. Nevada lead the charge with a 133% increase in sales in the fourth quarter of 2008 over the same period in 2007. At these auctions the properties are sold "as is" and the buyers are required to make a $5000 deposit either in cash or a cashiers check for each successful bid they get.
