Reno is the Place to Be

With the gas prices as high as they are, most of the Reno residents are staying put for the Memorial Day weekend. There are so many different things to do and a lot of events that are going on in Reno – who needs to go out of town.
There are 187 parks in the Washoe County area. The Sparks Marina is a popular place to hit the beach for some family fun. Swimming, non-motor boating and they have stocked the lake with rainbow trout and catfish for the avid fishermen.
The Ski Tavern ski area has been transformed for the summer into biking and mountain biking trails.
The Truckee River is a great place to hang out, swim, picnic and the kayaking park is a wonderful place to enjoy watching or riding the current. Get your inner tubes ready and take a long float down the Truckee River.
Wild Island Water Park is open for business and is celebrating 20 years of operation. You not only have the outrageous water park but you have miniature golf, bowling and the fun go-karts.
There are a lot of people that forget about how fun it is to take the kids to Circus-Circus. They have a great place called the Midway where kids enjoy playing circus type games for stuffed animals and playing the arcade games. Plus they have live circus acts.
This weekends concert lists are growing. Among some of them are: Bonnie Raitt, Al Green and comedian Greg Proops. And lets not forget the downtown River Walk. When was the last time you took a walk down the Truckee River? It’s a beautiful walk to take.
