Walk into the sales center at Sierra Canyon at Somersett and let me know if that is how they make you feel.  I am a big proponent of Somersett and Sierra Canyon but I have a pet peeve and it is the way potential buyers are treated when they walk into the Del Webb sales center in Somersett.

There have been times when I'm showing houses in Somersett and my buyer  wanted to just take a look  at their models to see if it is something they are interested in. There is a Toll Brothers home that was built 3 years ago that is literally falling apart. There are doors that will not open, cracks throughout, and a leaky ceiling. There was a report done by Black Hawk Engineering that concluded the home was built on inadeqautely compacted soil. The owner has had to move out and the court has given Toll Bros. two deadlines to correct the problem but nothing has been done.

When I first heard this story my gut feeling was to be pissed at the big corporate developer taking  advantage of the small home owner just trying to live the American Dream. After taking a closer look I found that the home owner will not allow Toll access to the home to fix the problem because he wants Toll to buy the home back.

A lot of the homes will be featured on the Dickson Realty Real Estate today show that will also air 12 times this weekend. On Friday June 27 there will be a sealed bid auction for six upscale custom homes that were built on speculation by Sage Crest and Knotty Bear builders. The current prices for the homes range from about $1,350,000 to over 2 million dollars and square footages range from 4000 to over 6200. They do have some of the most spectacular views of any homes in Somersett and the quality of construction is as good as any in Washoe County. With that being said, it begs the question, "What were these builders thinking", building 6 million dollar and up homes on speculation in this current market? That takes some serious you know whats.
