Greenville SC Gets Early Christmas Present
Posted Dec 9, 2007 @ 6:50 pm, Viewed by 508 Visitors, Read 535 Times. Those of us living in Greenville South Carolina, are prone to take our wonderful weather for granted. Our normal high temperatures for this time in December are in the mid-50's. This weekend we were blessed with highs in the mid-70's and these same temperatures are forecasted for most of the week. The higher temps got people outside and doing more than Christmas shopping. The motorcycle riders, walkers, bicycle riders all were out in full force soaking up and enjoying the weather that was our early Christmas present.
My wife and I decided to drive up to Paris Mountain State Park which is just 10 minutes from downtown Greenville. This 1500 acre park has walking trails, biking trails, a lake, campgrounds, picnic shelters and more. The park was founded in 1933 and is a favorite of people all over Greenville County. In the summer you can swim, kayak or fish on Lake Placid, rent a spot in the campgrounds for $14 per night or reserve one of the many picnic shelters spread around the park with some on the lake.
We enjoyed hiking on the Sulphur Springs trail which is about 4 miles and winds around the springs and has beautiful scenic views. The trails are well marked and parts of it are shared with bicyclists while other sections are for hikers only. Even two out of shape people like us were able to make relatively good time and felt inspired that we were able to complete it. The weather was perfect and made you want to make a New Year's resolution that you would do something like this every weekend.
So what is your weather like? Many of my clients choose Greenville because we do enjoy the four seasons in a mild way. We average around 1.5 inches of snow a year but there are many years it doesn't snow at all. Like the saying goes, nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina" (South). If you are considering relocating to our area, please visit my Greenville South Carolina real estate web site to read more about all the things our area has to offer. We currently have 5,200 homes for sale with good inventory in all price ranges. The average cost of homes in our area this year has been $182,000. Property taxes here were just LOWERED and average $600 per $100,000 of the assessed value of a home. So for a $200,000 home your tax bill would be around $1200 a year and NO we do not have a separate tax for schools. These are just a few of the reasons Greenville has become a popular relocation and retirement destination for people from all over the United States.

Morgan, Nanaimo looks beautiful as well. If you are like me, when you are around the setting everyday, you really do take it for granted. When my relocation clients are in town, they are always quick to point out how nice our area and weather is. Thanks for the comments.

Eddy, as you know we live in Nanaimo, BC and honestly, I think it's the most beautiful place on earth. Looking at your pictures it reminds me of here, I had no idea there was such picturesque natural areas in Greenville, and at 182,000 you have a WAY lower average home sale price than here (I think we are up over 300k now) - Anyone potentially thinking of the Greenville area for relocation and not familiar with the joys this kind of environment can bring, you should really check it out - Those pictures are beautiful, but nothing can compare to being there, smelling the trees, the water and breathing that clean air. Incidentally Eddy, check out these pics on the Nanaimo Information site - remind you of home? http://www.nanaimoinformation.com/forum/showthread.php?t=462
