Amador County Real Estate Market

Today I had lunch with Elite's Amador County district manager, Bridget Felmley.
That title is pretty tongue in cheek, to be honest. Elite properties is fairly small, and Amador County is no Orange County, so our district manager works with one other agent in the whole county.
We are "independently owned and operated."
One of the core economies of marketing is that titles are free.
Well, one of the things that came up during this lunch was how Bridget was talking to a colleague there in Amador, who said that Amador is Booming! Bridget and I were of the opinion that that colleague was trying to stay positive in the face of some fairly lackluster market news. (See, for example, this recent report on Amador County real estate).
I understand the need to stay positive, especially if you don't have a lot going. It seems to me, however, that at some point, being positive blends over to whistling in the dark. Amador County's market is not horrible, but it's not the greatest. Things are moving fairly slowly there, and that means that if you do need to make a move in this market, you need to both work with a team that will help you stage it well and market it agressively and try your best to price it according to the market. Having someone positive working for you is nice, but losing money for eighteen months with someone who promises you the moon tied up in a bow may not always be in your best interest.
