The exact translation is 'wind-water', does this make any more
sense? I can hear many of you say 'No', well it doesn't make it any
more clear to me either. Even though this interpretation probably
doesn't mean much, the meaning behind it normally does. Even though
the phrase 'wind-water' doesn't make any sense to most of us, the
original interpretation often does. Feng shui is very well known
today, it is an old Chinese system of organization using laws of
earth and heaven to help make life more positive, thanks to the
positive so called qi
All the rooms in the household can be organized according to the
rules of feng shui and actually, numerous household are. It doesn't
matter which room in the household you want to arrange, every
single room can be adjusted using this old tradition. Each room in
your property is connected to one another, so for the purpose of
Feng Shui, the household is classed as one unit. For this feature I
would like to discuss Feng Shui in one particular room of the
house; the bedroom.
Items that are classed as completely wrong for the bedroom, are
items such as gym equipment, electrical equipment, plants and
family photographs. The reason is that these will damage all the
available good energy which is in the area. On the other hand,
positive happy pictures and items are just right for any bedroom.
To promote good energy, look for positive pictures and items that
you can duplicate, as one of something is still wrong for the room.
Choose pictures that are bright, cheerful and positive as well as
ornaments, though make sure ornaments are part of a pair. Choosing
inspirational pieces is the key to being satisfied. If you feel
positive about the things in the room, then odds are you are on the
proper track. Even if you don't believe in the whole idea of feng
shui, having positive and inspirational items are going to make you
feel better than something that makes you feel depressed.
Feng shui will also guide you pick the colors best suited to
generate that perfect setting in your bedroom Flesh tones, from a
pale to the dark brown tones are said to be the best colors to
purchase to make the most of feng shui. I believe most of these
shades can combine very well with any other color. If you decide to
use these tones, you will also find that the majority of other
decors go well with them, as they are quite neutral. Try using a
contrasting colour on one of the walls, or your favorite colour;
this should make a perfect combination. As flesh tones are quite
neutral, any other color you pick should go very well and look
fantastic.
Feng shui will also help you pick the correct direction to put your
bed. You should know which element of your life you would like to
influence, in almost all of them, the bed should be turned in a
slightly different direction. The general rule is, decide which
part of your life you want to change, then position the bed in a
slightly different direction. There is no universal working
position, so look up the position in accordance with the part of
your life you want to improve. If you are unsure what each position
means, then there are many ways to find out, from books to browsing
the Internet.
As a Summerhill real estate professional, who spent 27
years working with houses, I have to warn you: Watch out! What you
should not do, according to feng shui, is to have a mirror facing
your bed. This doesn't mean you shouldn't have one in the room
anymore. In addition, it is not recommended to keep doors, not
forgetting closet doors, open during the night. I don't know about
you, but I always feel more secure having the doors shut anyway.
For some of you that keep the door open for other reasons, such as
listening out for the children, or even if you just don't want
closed doors, then keep them open. Your happiness is the most
important. No amount beneficial energy is going to flow if you feel
distressed in your bedroom.
