Real Estate Agents--Slow? Take advantage!
Posted Oct 23, 2007 @ 3:50 am, Viewed by 326 Visitors, Read 330 Times.Maybe it's just me...but the current market "slow down" is being treated by MANY REALTORS as a road sign to "Slow down". IMO nothing could be further from the truth! it is in times like these that market share is gained, new ideas are forged and much is learned about the business.
A slow market is one where everyone else thinks that things are slow, so that the resourceful entrepreneur can have a field day. It clarifies WHO can truly market as oppposed to sell.

In our office, we use the phrase "OMG corner" to describe the feeling we get this time of year. You close the last deal that you have on the books right now and get lulled in to the sense that you have no more business in your book.
And you say "OMG--where's my next one coming from!?"
Actually, this is a really great time to pursue opportunity. You FINALLY have time to work on your web presence, write in your blog, and try new ideas out...
This should be the busiest and most active time for REALTORS IMO., no? What we have found is by taking this attitude it turns your business from OMG--where's where's my next one coming from? to "OMG, I need a rest!".

It's the day after Christmas in Delaware and I talked with four new leads from the net and talked to two clients from the web. It's certainly not slow if you know how to find leads.
Mike; I would agree. We picked up 7 today in our office as well. Very much feels like NOT slow around here...When I wrote this, I was hearing from the agents in our office that things were slowing down. They are not saying that now...(grin) Glad to hear things are rockin' in Rehoboth
Great post, Blackwell. This is definitely the time of year to put your marketing efforts into overdrive.

All very good and well taken points Eric, Funny thing is my phone is ringing more now than it was a few months ago, and I am working with a few buyers and sellers now, where as a few months ago it was just sellers. Perhaps it will be a happy and busy Christmas this year.
