Homearama 2008

HomearamaIt 2008 is an opportunity for local builders to showcase their "prototype" or "ideal" homes all within one neighborhood and all open to tours for a two week stretch.
Since the homes are all near each other, the builders are competing "head on" to see who can be the most innovative and can provide the most bang for the buck. Last years most memorable home for me was an energy efficient house that featured the ability to heat and cool a 3500-4000 square foot home for something ridiculous like $30 a month. They used the latest technology in insulation and windows, etc. It was truly amazing to see a home that was this cost efficient and yet beautiful.
This year, Homearama 2008 will be at Louisville's Locust Creek from July 12-27. Homearama is always packed with people who want to check out the latest and greatest features. Oh yeah...and they get to vote on the best home.
It really is a great time. I will be posting more info about this once a year event, including pictures, shortly.

Exactly. They are all constructed on "eseentially" one street by builders who are all competing with one another. The public then comes in and rates them as well as tours them. There are some awesome houses. They range from $700,000 to well over $1 MM and in Louisville that can buy you a home with its own zip code (grin). Lots of fun
This is a really cool idea. The builders here in Columbus should try something like this. I will suggest it at the next home builders meeting.

Eric, I am curious to see the pictures of these homes. I haven't seen too many energy efficient homes around here....I've seen some energy efficient "additions".
Eric, I am interested to see the pictures of these homes! We have some in the area, but not alot...sometimes I'll see an energy efficient addition.
