Don't Just Think Outside The Box, Beat The Crap Out Of It!

Did you read the title. I hope you did. I'm sure you have hear the term "think outside the box." Yes I know the term sounds cliche, but it's true. In Real Estate, you have to be unique and different to survive in this market. Many agents today still do thing the old fashion way. They use print advertising, do open houses, give out recipes for there favorite pies. Pies, really? Here is another thing are these slogans that some of these agents come up.

Here's an examply Tipper McGee Realty, where dreams come true." Let's analyze this for a second. Are your dreams really coming true if you use a Realtor? If anything, they can make your life a living nightmare if you pick the wrong one. Besides dreams are in your sleep.  Now I'm not trying to knock Realtors…

Understanding Contracts

In the business nothing seems to amaze. Especially when it comes to agents not enforcing or understanding contracts.  A standard FAR/BAR contract has basic language that protects both parties. But if you're buyers or sellers have additonal reuqirements, like your sellers keeping some of the appliances. You need to convey this is the contract. You need to make sure that both parties agree to the terms of the contract inlcuding any alterations made. If this is not the case. You are looking at a potential lawsuit and maye even your commission being cut. That's not a good thing. You need to be up front with your clients and make sure you convey all the terms you agree to on the contract.  This will save you trouble and make the transaction go smoothly.

Bring On The Customer Service

During the peak of the Real Estate market, there were probably close to 20,000 agents on the Tampa Bay Area. As of right near, there're less then 4500. That's a big drop. A big reason for the drop in Realtors is because the market took a turn for the worse. But that's not the only reason. The main reason is because many Realtors forgot the concept of customer service. During the "real estate boom" Realtors would just walk out of there office and write up a deal. They didn't have to work for it. Now times have changed.  If you want to build a great referral business, you need to work on your customer service skills. One such skill is answering your phone.
