Hendersonville Real Estate

Hendersonville is located about 30 minutes north east of Nashville and is easily accessible via I 65N and is well know for it's desirable lake front homes.

In the mid 60's the Army Corp of Engineers created the Old Hickory Lake by damming the the river and flooding what was once farm land and old plantations.

As the news of lake homes spread the interest spread to country music stars like Jonny Cash and Roy Orbison who bought lake homes and helped raise the profile of Hendersonville as a luxury lake home market.

In the late 70's and early 80's the growth of Hendersonville was felt to be getting out of hand by the residents and the city management was then elected on a no growth platform. This was great for a few years but by the early 90's Hendersonville was losing ground to communities like Franklin which welcomed the developers and growth.

Now the tide has turned and the communities in Sumner County created a group made up of the business leaders called Forward Sumner. This has resulted in the last few years of a renewed interest and a tremendous growth in new homes and retail developments. For example the retail mixed use development at Indian Lake is over 400 acres and is set to rival the retail mecca in Franklin called Cool Springs.
