Leukemia Charity Golf Event in Nashville Tennessee

As some of you may be aware, in February 2007, I managed to pick up a new client from my websites www.Nashville.com and www.NashvillesMLS.com Nothing out of the ordinary there. The site generates between 20 and 50 inquiries a day. However this lead was to have a huge impact on the development of the Ashton Real Estate Group. The inquiry was from Susan Reinfeldt who is the wife of then Assistant GM at the Seattle Seahawks NFL team Mike Reinfeldt.

Mike Reinfeldt: GM of The Tennessee Titans

I managed to end up working with Mike and Susan and assisted them in finding their home in Nashville as Mike had accepted the job as the head of the Titans organisation in Nashville. As I worked with the Reinfeldts I became aware that their daughter had leukemia and was recovering from a bone marrow transplant to combat the leukemia. She is now a picture of health and looks healthier than any other 12 year old girl I know.

As I have spent more time with the Reinfeldts I have slowly become more aware of the problems of leukemia and the need for more money for research. Susan is very actively involved in the leukemia society and in December of 2007 asked me if I would like to get involved in with raising money for the organization. Of course I said yes...and as a result I am now working on a number of ways of raising money.

One of the easiest and simplest ways of raising money was to do something that I have need to do for some time. Lose weight. Each quarter I go to my Dr for a check up and each time she says "you need to lose some weight, exercise and watch your diet." Every time I agree and make plans to go to the gym....but never do. This time, however, I decided that if I couldn't lose weight for myself, I could try and do a sponsored weight loss and raise money that way. As a result I am now getting up at 5.30 am every day, which is a miracle in its self and have started working out with an old client and friend Rich Peluso. Rich was President of EMI CMG and as part of his package was "given" a personal trainer and he managed to lose over 100lbs. Now Rich is helping me using the same regime and working out with me.

The other money raising idea I had is a tried and true method...the golf tournament. The owners of The Governors Club in Brentwood Tennessee have generously allowed us to put on the event at their Arnold Palmer designed golf course. We are hoping for a heavy involvement from the Titans players and the management as well as some of the Nashville Predators and local musicians and celebrities. The date has been set for Monday May 5th and so far it looks like it has the potential to be very successful in helping raise the profile of the leukemia issue and raise money for the charity and research.
