Realtors and the ego

Realestate professionals and Contractors who deal in remodeling and building in Florida, or any business for that matter could perhaps benifit from a differant perspective.  Could go for politicians and all of us for that matter.

Value is not something that comes from nothing, it comes from work.  Basic economics, nothing comes from nothing, which is why many businesses go by the wayside, though many do learn how to adapt and flourish.

If we take the time to read some of what is in many of the blogs and articles we see in whatever medium we happen to be in, it seems there is always one thing that stands out.  This is the ego factor, in other words just how much the author knows on the subject, or at times think they know.

Fact is we all know much less than we think we know, and before we can actually know anything we better learn first that we know nothing.  Beginners mind works wonders in business, which is why we see so many changes in the way we do business today, though in some cases we wonder (I wonder) if these changes actually create value in what we do.

It seems the more clubs, associations, chambers or groups you want to belong to, or need to belong to in order to maintain whatever business license you have, or are trying to obtain (this also pertains to educational pursuits and institutions) the more egotistical one needs to be, or in many cases pretend to be.  Now this does not mean that no one knows what they are doing, so please do not misunderstand the point, of which is humility.  I said pretend, which in many cases is the start of knowing, and we all start somewhere.  We need to remember as I mentioned earlier the beginning, or beginner in order to gain experiance in the endevors we pursue.

If we are a beginner we may at times let the ego get in the way, in order to recieve the perception of knowing what we are doing.  It is much more uncomplicated to just tell people when you are unsure of what you know.  How hard is it to say I do not know, but I will find out for you.  Many seem to think that if you say that outloud people will go somewhere else for information, though in reality they may already know what it is they just ask you, which for some is the game of the ego versus the idiot, though this practice will many times catch you in a place you may wish you were not in, as it is difficult to backup with verbal thoughts.

We need always to think before we speak, especially in company we do not know.  We also need to be aware of the fact that our thought process is not always just in our head, so beware of what your thoughts are as in positive versus negative, though there are times when we do need to be negative, we just need to be sure of the perceptions we have and the circumstances of our surroundings.

What does all this really have to do with anything?  Perhaps not much, perhaps everything.

The more I think I know the more I know I do not know much, or the more I learn the more I know there is to learn which is infinate...thruth which lets us love is the only thing which really matters.
