Washington DC Real Estate

Washington, D.C. is an absolutely gorgeous city, with many distinct neighborhoods and truly something for everyone. Tourists are most familiar with the open green space of The Mall, with museums and memorials on either side, the Tidal Basin with its glorious cloud of cherry blossoms in the spring, and the impressive sight of the Capitol and the surrounding Senate and House office buildings. But Washington is much more.

Washington is the sense of community in the residential areas on Capitol Hill, where the Eastern Market bustles on weekends. It’s the excitement of the newly developed area where The National’s baseball team will call home. D.C. is also the “funkiness” of Adams Morgan, with an array of wonderful town homes and streets lined with popular night spots and restaurants that overflow every Saturday night.

Washington houses many upscale neighborhoods, like Kalorama which is known for embassy residences as well as for coop apartments; and Spring Valley, a community in the far northwest sector that is made up almost entirely of single family homes. Next to Spring Valley, American University Park is another area that is known for its community cohesiveness and neighborliness.

Tourists and residents alike also love the many cultural offerings in the D.C. area…from the well known Kennedy Center, to the lesser known independent theatres which seem to be constantly expanding and growing. The National Zoo, in easy walking distance from the popular Woodley Park neighborhood, is also a wonderful destination for animal viewing and for educational programs.

Washington DC Homes, Condos, Cooperatives, and Lot/Land Property Search

Real estate in Washington DC comes in practically every variety of style and price, from small efficiency apartments, to large embassies (yes, you can own an embassy...at least a property that was a an embassy in a previous life).  When one thinks about the prototypical Washington DC Home, the picture that comes to mind is the early 20th century style "rowhouse" that is common to Georgetown, Capitol Hill, Mount Pleasant, Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle to name a few.  But Washington DC has more to offer than just the this townhome style- genre.  Large, estate style homes dominate parts of NW Washington DC (Chevy Chase DC, Cleveland Park, Wesley Heights, Forest Hills, Kalorama...).

Like many other large Metropolitan areas, Washington DC has a variety of new condo developments, most prominently in the newly gentrified areas of Penn Quarter, The U Street Corridor, Adams Morgan, Logan Circle, Mount Vernon Square among many other areas.  "New York" style coops also have a presence, predominantly in Kalorama, Chevy Chase DC, Foggy Bottom/West End.

Washington DC truly has something for everyone, with a truly diverse portfolio of homes, condos, cooperatives and more.
