Neo-Traditional home design (also called Traditional neighborhood design), couples modern neighborhood planning and development with a little bit of history. Most American and European communities in the 18th and 19th centuries were close knit environments designed and built that way out of necessity. But because of the rise of the automobile and other modern means of transportation, urban sprawl began to take over.
Many new construction homebuilders and development planners are now trying to bring back the sense of close knit communities that was once so successful. By offering tree lined streets, sidewalks, picnic areas, playgrounds, and many other common area amenities, these new construction neighborhoods seem to be catching on quickly.
