Lee County, FL Continues Rapid Growth

It should come as no surprise that Lee County in Florida is the third fastest growing Metro area in the United States. Combining absolutely year round gorgeous weather (average mean temperature 83 degrees), 50 miles of white sandy beaches, and being named as one of the Top 10 U.S. Travel Destinations has produced a 30% increase in residents during the past six years. Already known as a retirement mecca, the Lee Island Coast, encompassing Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Estero, Ft. Myers and Lehigh Acres, is rapidly growing due to increasing employment opportunities and peoples' desires to live and work in a sub-tropical paradise.

Both Bonita Springs and Estero accounted for the most increased population in the late 1990's, but now Cape Coral and Lehigh Acres are the hottest areas where families are building new homes. These growth centers are flourishing because of the amount of affordable vacant land that is attractive to builders and buyers alike.

The biggest question is will this growth pattern continue? The Developers of the area's two new mega malls, the Gulf Coast Town Center in San Carlos Park and the Coconut Point Mall in Estero, certainly think so. With a current average of almost 1,000 people moving to Florida daily, and the baby boomer generation rapidly approaching retirement age, we do too.
