Baseball Spring Training Starts in Southwest Florida

An annual right here in Southwest Florida is spring training for the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins. What more could you ask for than a sunny 80 degree afternoon watching your favorite players begin their yearly quest to play the game almost everyone loves. From the long time stars to the rookies, it is a time of anticipation. Who will fill the teams open roster spots, how will the new players obtained from off season trades help the team, who's healthy and who's not, and perhaps most importantly, what are the team’s chances of going all the way to the Series and winning a World Championship. For Red Sox fans, expectations are very high, especially since they went all the way last year. For the Twins fans, they'd just like to see their team compete with leagues other elite franchises and perhaps with a little luck, win a pennant.

For the diehard fans who just love the game, this time of year is like being in heaven. The stadiums are smaller, the players more accessible (for photos and autographs) and the teams play somewhere almost every day. Over the next 6-7 weeks or so, you can see some of the best teams in the game including the Yankees, Cardinals, Dodgers, Pirates and Mets. So, grab your favorite ball cap or jersey and head on over to Hammond Stadium or City of Palms Park and experience one of things that helps make living here in Southwest Florida so special.

I noticed this post for two reasons.  One, I had an invite to try out for the LA Dodgers farm team in 1977 (I wonder if they still play there).  I chose the Marines instead.  The second reason was the 'fancy first letter!'  Hmm, I remember writing a post about 'fancy first letters' a while back!    All your posts are great, btw.  This one, just like the others is certainly a 5!

Hey Joe, The Dodgers home for spring training is Vero Beach. They will be here in Ft. Myers to play the Red Sox on March 6 & 7. As for that fancy first letter, I've been using it ever since I read your post. It's a nice touch and adds a little flair. I like to think of it as just another great example of how many members here and at the forums help each other learn how to do things better. So, 5 stars right back at you for being one of those members.
