Home builder in metro Indy have reason to celebrate. In December, the home builders had the best month of the year. The Indianapolis Star reported today that permits jumped 33% compared to December of 2008. Sales however for the year were down 21% to 3625 homes compared to 2008. This is the lowest number of sales in the last decade. NVR subsidiary Ryan Homes has entered the Indianapolis market through the purchase of over 800 foreclosed lots throughout and around the city. Ryan will be building homes in Franklin, Greenwood, Noblesville, and Brownsburg with models opening in January. Ryan has a great reputation throughout the north east and intends to dominate the market our sources say. The plan to open model complexes in December and January and more later in 2010.
