Geist Fishers Annexation Battle Finally Go To Court
In what seems like a never ending saga, Geist residents and the town of Fishers are finally going to get their day in court. Fishers has been trying to annex 2,200 high end homes in the Geist area for quite some time now and Geist residents have been opposing them every step of the way. Geist residents have collected 1,700 signatures and filed suit to stop Fishers from annexing their homes into the Fishers tax base.
The homeowners at Geist assert that becoming part of Fishers will increase their tax base for services they already receive and Fishers argues that Geist residents already receive these services without paying fully for them. The town of Fishers has tried to entice the Geist homeowners with tax incentives and Geist has tried to…
Zionsville Resident's Oppose New Development
Brenwick Development, most known locally for their massive West Clay project, is seeking to annex 115 acres on the Northwest corner of Eagle Township along County Road 875 for an area of new high end custom homes. Brenwick wants to build 166 high end custom homes that would average more than $600,000 each; however they are being met with opposition from neighbors declaring that the new project would ruin their country feel.
The 115 acres in question borders another property owned by Brenwick that is already platted for the Hampshire neighborhood, but Brenwick says that if the new annexation is approved the two areas would be combined into one neighborhood with a new name.
The neighbors’ main opposition to the project is that the density of…
Indianapolis Parade Of Homes - Spring 2008
The spring Indianapolis Parade of Homes is taking place over the next two weekends April 26 and 27 and May 3 and 4 from noon to 6:00 PM as is being billed as Indianapolis’ largest open house. The Indianapolis Parade of homes will feature over 120 new homes from various builders and price ranges. Custom home builders and production builders alike with partake in event and all of the homes are for sale, except certain model homes. There is no charge for the event, all you have to do is pick up a Parade of Homes guide and hit the streets.
IMHO, the neatest part of the Indianapolis Parade of Homes is seeing the homes being built by the custom home builders and smaller builders that may not have regular model hours. In any case, if you are considering…
Banks Exempt From Seller's Disclosure - That's Not Fair
Even though I try to avoid them like the plague, I showed an expensive home the other day that was a short sale situation. The first thing we encountered when entering the home was that o so familiar smell of a wet basement that seems to stick with you even after you leave the house. We immediately open the door to the basement and the door, the drywall, and just about every surface is covered in mold. Being the brave Realtor I am, I decide to go down the stairs to investigate just how bad the situation is. Before I reach the bottom of the stairs I am met with at least 3 – 4 feet of standing water and almost get totally soaked. Needless to say, my clients were not interested and we were on our way. So we wasted a few minutes and maybe got a mold…
Fortune Magazine Recognizes Zionsville Indiana
Fortune Magazine has named Zionsville Indiana as the 57th best place in the United States to live and start a business. Fortune Magazine’s article states “Zionsville boasts a distinctive, genteel charm and 400 acres of parkland - more per capita than any other town in Indiana” and labels Zionsville as “wealthy bedroom community”.
Zionsville is indeed all of these things and more; located just 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis and sharing its borders with Carmel, one of Indianapolis most sought after addresses, Zionsville is perfectly located for both residential and commercial activity. One of the characteristics that Zionsville has that most other areas of Indianapolis don’t is the “genteel charm” Fortune talks about in their article. …
Special Census : Fishers Population Up 73% Since 2000
Back in October Fishers conducted a special census to accurately count exactly how many people live in Fishers so they could claim more tax dollars from the state. What’s the total number? 65,382 to be exact, that represents a 73% increase in population since 2000 and an astonishing jump from the 7,200 population back in 1990. This ranks Fishers 2nd in the fastest growing cities or towns in the entire state of Indiana and the state’s 10th largest community just behind Carmel and Muncie.
Will the growth continue? If predictions are correct, by the year 2025 Fishers will be home to 120,000 residents and be the state’s 3rd largest community. This growth is not limited to Fishers; Hamilton County is the nation’s 23rd fastest growing county since 2000…
Amazon Coming To Anoson Indiana
On the heels of Medco’s big announcement to locate their mega warehouse in the Anson project, Amazon.com has recently announced that they will also add a distribution facility to the project and become the project’s newest tenant. Amazon’s new distribution center promises to employ 1,200 workers at an average wage of $12.50 per hour and will surely galvanize the Anson project and induce more and more tenants into the area.
Both Amazon and Medco are big catches in an effort to really get Anson off the ground. Although the major building hasn’t even occurred yet, CVS has opened a pharmacy and both Meijer and Lowes have agreed to occupy the site as major anchors of the Anson project. The new Amazon announcement should accelerate the growth and make it…
Renaissance Bay Indianapolis
The new upscale condo project in the Keystone area Renaissance Bay is ruffling some feathers with its some its neighbors over the future use of the current sales trailer. Some of the neighbors are in a tizzy because after the initial plan for Renaissance Bay were approved; the developer acquired an additional piece of land north of 78th street and is currently using that for their sales center.
The neighbors are concerned that once the sales center is no longer needed they will either build who knows what on the property or sell it to a third party to build who knows what. They are also arguing that the land is not currently zoned for the commercial activity the developer is currently using it for. The neighbors and the city council would like to…
