Homegain.com Wants REALTORs To Blog On Their Site.

photo James Boyer

I have been reading on the bloodhoundblog how Homegain.com wants their REALTOR customers to blog on the newly created Homegain.com blog.

This led me to think:

  • Why would REALTORS want to blog on Homegain.com's in-house blog, is there anything better about it?  Isn't blogging on it just creating more content for homegain and thus creating more dependence on homegain?
  • Are not most of the homegain REALTORS who are willing to blog, already blogging someplace else?
  • If most of their agents who are likely to blog are already blogging someplace else, why should they switch to homegain.com's blog?
  • Homegain.com does not seem to be ranking well anymore in the search engines for my area of interest, I wonder if that is the same in other parts of…

Tail Of A Happy Home Seller

    photo James Boyer

In these times of homes for sale sitting on the market for 90 to 180 days, many times not selling at all, it is such a pleasure when as a REALTOR you get the chance to work with a home seller who is willing to listen to everything you advise them of and actually follow your advice.

I got to experence this once again recently.  I went to the potential clients home, and gave them my honest opinion on the condition of their home and how likely I thought it was that it would even attract a offer at all.  The home owners and I made up a list of improvements which they could complete in 3 weeks time and then we put the list into a priority order.  The home owners worked the list diligently and at the end of the 3 weeks almost everything on the list was…

    Morristown NJ City Budget Politics

    photo James Boyer

Morristown NJ Mayor Donald Cresitello plans to introduce the same $37.8 million budget which the city council has rejected.  The Morristown City council rejected this budget just a few weeks ago because as they said, Mayor Cresitello's budget included big tax increases.

Morristown Mayor Cresitello believes he has already cut the budget enough and that the taxpayers of Morristown should just deal with another 4.5% tax increase.  Any further cuts beyond the current cuts the Mayor has offered would be draconian.

To be fair, I don't know the details of the Morristown NJ city budget, but Morristown just like most New Jersey towns has a big budget problem and that problem is only getting worse each year.  A big part of that problem is the retirement and…

    Morristown NJ Mayor Cutting Cops

    photo James Boyer

According to a recent article in the Daily Record News Paper Morristown NJ Mayor Donald Cresitello will fire 12 police officers, since he is not getting his way with the Morristown Council who refused to pass the Mayor's $37.8 million city budget on a 4 to 3 vote.

Come on Mr. Cresitello, can't you put some effort into figuring out a smaller budget what works?  It has been reported that Morristown will be increasing real estate taxes over 3% this year.  Why can't our local governments learn to do more with less just like the residents of our towns have had to do with their personal budgets.

It is time to put city government on a Diet!!

Morristown NJ Mayor Is At It Again.

    photo James Boyer

According to a article in today's Daily Record Morristown New Jersey's Mayor Donald Cresitello is at it again.

Cresitello wants to deputize local police officers to enforce federal immigration laws under a program known as 287G. The plan would give approximately 10 local police officers the same enforcement powers as agents of the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

"I don't think it's dead yet," Cresitello said to the Daily Record. "Maybe I can embarrass the president, the attorney general and the freeholders."

I don't intend to get wound up in immigration issue as it really is not my area of interest.  I wonder though, why is it that the Morristown NJ Mayor has so much time to devote to this issue, but seemingly no time to…
