New Jersey Real Estate

It has been reported that the New Jersey Real Estate market is doing so much better than the national news media would have you think. 

Recently it was reported on CNBC News as well as in the Otteau reports the lower to medium priced homes in North East New Jersey actually have appreciated about 1/2% since August of 2006.

My personal experience has been that the real estate market here in Morris, Essex, & Union Counties has been picking up since April of 2007.  In the spring the New Jersey real estate market was very slow, but now we are almost back to normal levels of activity.

In the month of August Madison NJ had 13 home sales and Chatham NJ had 28 home sales.

There are many factors which contribute to the current strength in the New Jersey real estate market.

• Much of North East New Jersey is within easy commuting distance of Manhattan.
• Many people working in Manhattan prefer to live in a suburban environment.
• Despite all the complaining, the residents of New Jersey know that our tax situation is much better than a few other states which are convenient for commuting into New York City.
• New Jersey really is a friendly place to live.  Forget the stereotypes New Jersey is a beautiful place with a extremely large number of genuinely helpful and friendly residents.

The bottom line, turn the national news off, the news they are giving about real estate is highly tainted with information out of the California & Florida Real Estate markets which are very different from New Jersey Real Estate.
