Morris Township Government Seeking More Of The Public's Money

Morris Township Officials are trying to do a online petition to get the State of New Jersey to enact new laws to allow Morris Township to install remote camaras and issue speeding tickets based on those camaras.

"As your constituents, we are respectfully asking your help to deal with a significant impairment of our 'Quality of Life' in the Garden State -- excessive speeding on our roads," the petition reads. "We urge you to introduce and enact legislation that would permit local law enforcement agencies to use photo-radar equipment to identify speeders and issue summonses that can be enforced."

This seems to be more of a intrusion of our lives.  What is to prevent local towns from monitoring and tracking the public's movements.  Can't the township government learn to live within its means and stop looking for money  for projects  which are not needed.  Pass more laws like this and the New Jersey state legislature just spends and needs more of the publics hard earned money.

James, You will find these cameras all over the place now. Thanks to homeland security grants from us Taxpayers even the smallest towns have them. Don't you feel safer now? I don't know if you had Orwells "1984" as required reading - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four , but the one thing that was really creepy to me was that Big Brother was watching everywhere. The title missed it by a couple decades, but we have Big Brother watching everywhere, electronic trails of everything we do, double speak, etc. Be very wary of the politically correct, they are the Thought Police and will use the environment to enrich themselves and enslave others. We always said that a persons true character would be revealed by what he would do if no one was watching. Now there is always someone watching, but the world is full of trickery and deceit.

That is the way it seems to me as well. Just another way for government to intrude on our lives, and another excuse to spend our money. Local and state governments need to learn to find ways to cut and cancel programs rather than trying to find more ways to spend our money. They also need to remember they work for the public and that the jobs that our local and state governments provide are not a entitlement. Most of these jobs are paid for with real estate taxes, the most regressive taxing method there is.
