They did it again! You'd think that with the amount of negative press they are getting about screwing over agents, that they would just drop my request for a refund, refund the money so I can go on my way. However, since they continue to fight I'm wanting to get my money's worth out of it.
In their latest response, they said:
4. The card holder has received 12 referrals as of September 30th, 2008. These clients are looking for help from a Realtor in that area. We review each referral before sending them to the Realtor to ensure a quality lead. The referrals are then sent to the Realtors email address, per the subscription terms. These referrals have potential of thousands of dollars in commissions. They were sent to the email.
"We review each referral before sending them to the Realtor to ensure a quality lead."
When calling these "referrals" they did not speak English, were not interested in speaking with me or in at least one case, told me out right that they asked NOT TO BE CALLED.
Number 6: "The cardholder at no point requested a refund and is only upset because we can not continue to replace referrals for him as his account has matured." This is a flat out lie. Not only did I request a refund, but I was hung up on several times. Please don't use RECR - Real Estate Client Referrals.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your experience with RECR! I was recently called by them and actually considered using their service. However, it has been my experience in the past that most of the so called "magic" lead generators are just a waste of money and time. Your comments assured me I made the right decision again not to use a referral service!
I now tell all of these 'lead generators' that i will pay them a referral fee through escrow -- if they are licensed under a broker.
You proivided information is very helpful to client referrals. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Many years ago I tried a couple referral services. I didn't waste too much money with one of the companies and they even credited me for a bogus lead. I lost much more with Homegain and swore I would never pay for leads again.
In fact, a coaching guy on AR stated something that is so true: if we have a website or 800-# or something similar bringing us leads, we shouldn't have to pay anyone else for more leads. We just need to learn how to convert the one's we are already getting. I agree with that.
And I'm always afraid to answer the phone when I receive an out-of-area code call because it's usually a lead-selling service. Sometimes, it is an actual out-of-town prospect and it makes me angry that I don't want to answer calls fearing it might be someone trying to sell me something.
