Customer Service Part 1: Daily Business

Does anyone remember that term and what it actually means?

I was in a local store the other day, and an employee greeted me with a smile and a sincere "Hi, Can I help you?" and actually tried to assist me and make my experience a pleasant one.  I remembered their attitude through out the rest of my day.  I thought to myself... “that was good customer service, they cared enough about my needs to offer assistance” and I know I will return to that establishment in the future...

A few months back, I went into another establishment for the first time looking for a gift for one of my customers.  I had never been at this particular store and thought I'd give them a try.  As I wandered the aisles, I passed several employees either stocking shelves, or scurrying along on some chore or another.  Not a one smiled at me or asked if they could assist me.  I eventually found an item, brought it to the checkout counter and was unpleasantly surprised to find the only interaction I had at the store was the checkout person saying... “$23.50".  Needless to say, I won't be returning to that establishment again!

I notice many times, starting businesses are filled with friendly helpful people offering real customer service.  Usually at first, these people are the owners themselves building a reputation and customer base.  They go out of their way to be accommodating and helpful.  Many times however, after returning to these establishments as they become more successful I notice the smile and "Hi, can I help you" is replaced with someone standing at a counter waiting for me to approach them and ask them for assistance and when I do it seems I've disturbed their day and placed an unwanted burden on them.

I have to wonder has success been so rewarding and prosperous to the owner that they can now afford the luxury of hiring someone just to ignore me?  Perhaps they no longer require or care about my business?

It's a shame really.

Have we as consumers become so insensitive to customer service that these are the levels of service we are willing to accept? If so, are we then passing along this level of customer service to others in our own business' and working environments?
Has customer service become a burden to business owners and employees?

In our daily lives we are presented many opportunities to interact with others on one level or another:  Whether it's as a customer in a mall shop, a sales person or waitress at a local establishment or as the owner of a business on the internet. Our interactions as customers, workers and owners have an impact on everyone around us daily.  Let's make the most of these interactions in a positive, professional and courteous way.

If you are in business or work for a living, make someone's day... Smile and say "Can I help you?" and mean it!

At Panama City Fl Real Estate, you will always be treated with respect and courtesy.  You can expect the level of Customer Service we provide to be professional, courteous and to your satisfaction.
