Along with those excellent outdoor attractions, Dawsonville also has one of the largest factory outlet malls in Georgia. The North Georgia Factory Outlets contain all of the big names in the retail industry, and is sure to have what everyone is looking for.

Public Shools in Dawsonville are managed by the Dawson County School Board. Several of the schools in the County receive high marks from websites such as Greatschools.com. At the collegiate level, while not having many colleges or universities actually located within Dawson County, the centralized allows for easy access to the surrounding educational institutions.

One of Dawsonville's strong points has definitely got to be the low property taxes. The average Dawson County resident pays only $800 per year in property taxes compared to almost twice that in neighboring Forsyth and Cherokee Counties. The tax burden here is very low also when compared to most counties in north of Atlanta.

Dawsonville's climate is similar to most of North Georgia. The northern mountainous part of the county tends to receive more harsh weather in the winter than the rest of the county. A friend of mine here in Savannah, grew up in Dawsonville and he has great things to about it. I grew up inner-city Atlanta. Then Dawsonville seemed a long ways away, but now I imagine it doesn't seem that far from the sprawl of Atlanta.
