Making a Good First Impression When Selling Your Home
Posted May 1, 2008 @ 6:16 pm, Viewed by 155 Visitors, Read 163 Times. In order to make sure you get the best price possible for your home, you should take several simple steps that will make it look much better and be more attractive to potential buyers.
To start with, take a look at the way the outside of your home looks. Just completing a few basic maintenance chores will go a long way toward making your house look great. For example, clear out the gutters and the downspouts of your home so they look clean and uncluttered. You should also be certain to have good exterior lighting at your home. Even if your potential buyers aren’t visiting the home at night, they might do a drive buy or visit at dusk. In both cases, you want the house to look attractive and appealing.
If there are any roof shingles that are missing or damaged, you should replace those as well. Similarly, take care of any worn out areas on your deck or any stains in your driveway. Remember, you want the potential buyer’s initial perception of your home to be a positive one. By making the outside look clean and well put together, you will have a better chance of making that positive first impression.
Of course, you want the potential buyers impression to be positive when he or she enters your home as well. Therefore, pay special attention to the first impression you reach when entering. Carefully consider smells as well as the physical appearance. If necessary, utilize candles or other air fresheners in order to make sure your home has a pleasant smell. The smell of your home can have a major impact on the potential buyer’s opinion of your home.
- Make sure your sinks and countertops are free of stains and mess
- Fix any faucets that may be dripping
- Organize your cupboards and pantry so they have a spacious, neat, and clean appearance
- Defrost your freezer and refrigerator and make sure they are odor free
By taking these simple steps, you will have a far greater chance of getting the price you desire and selling your home as quickly as possible. If you have a home in Austin that you need to sell please give us a call. 1-800-790-7910 Cantera Real Estate, Inc. - Your Austin Realtor Team!
