They are the Worst!

I started to write a short rant about how difficult it is to deal with Countrywide when you are representing sellers who would like to avoid foreclosure and complete a short sale. My frustration with them got the better of me and the rant became an article, “Countrywide Sucks!” which I have posted on my real estate news page at jalone.com. If you have had a different experience or have any suggestions on how to complete a transaction with CW, please let me know.

Other Items: Just a reminder as we enter the heart of the holiday season, the first installment of your 2008-2009 property tax is due tomorrow, December 10th. The penalty for late payments is stiff so if you pay your own taxes make sure you get them into the mail ASAP.

I just worked with Countrywide, they put the property up for auction at a ridiculously high price and nobody bid on it.  Then they took it back and nothing's happening, it's just sitting.

The other lenders I've worked with were equally difficult in different ways.  For example, selling a home at auction for $135,000 less than what a buyer had agreed to pay by way of a conventional purchase contract.  The lender called me up and said they needed a loan approval letter that day.  The buyer's loan officer couldn't produce the letter on such short notice for good reason.  Thus the lender sold the house for a great deal less.

Thanks for letting me know how my newest short sale (with Countrywide) is going to go for my short sale specialist.

Mikie, Mikey and SVRPaul - Thank  you for the comments....working short sales can be frustrating but when you are successful there is a good deal of statisfaction too.  I have some emails for agents who say Countrywide is not the most difficult lender they deal with.  WAMU, Bank of America and Wells Fargo all got votes for the honor.

Had a dealing with them on a short sale the buyer finally walked away afert six months, he had a great offer on the home and countrywide jerked us around. his offer was $375,000 come to find out now that the home is right now appraised at $350,000. I guess we know why they are in this mess.
