New
Port Richey should be proud of it's new Recreation & Aquatic
Center on Van Buren Street. The newly constructed $14.2
million center has four new gorgeous pools, a community center with
fitness center, two gymnasiums & several meeting rooms,
and a skate park. Everything from adult exercise classes to
tennis lessons to children's karate classes are offered here.
The center will offer swimming lessons, water polo and water
aerobics, as well as competitive swim teams. The rec center
even plans to offer art, drama and creative writing workshops for
kids.
New Port Richey and Trinity residents can enjoy all these benefits with a resident membership. And all you need to use the skate park is a $5 daily or $20 yearly skate park pass, no membership required. Pads are required however. I took my son to skateboard there one day and he had the ramps all to himself. Not a bad deal!
The recreation center held their grand opening on May 19th, with a sky diving demonstration, karate and fitness demonstrations, and lots of food and entertainment. With the steel drum band from Seven Springs Middle School providing some tropical beats, it was a fun and eventful day.
