The charts above show month's supply of market inventory for Homer Glen real estate from September 2008 through September 2011. They are broken down into types of properties sold: traditional sales vs. REO* vs. short sales. Keep in mind, this is not the amount of homes available for sale, this is how many months it would take to sell the current inventory in the different time frames. The 1st chart on top reads as follows: the red blocks represents month's supply from the dates 09/08-08/09 th... Read Full Post
This is our first Homer Glen 4th of July. We moved here last August from Oak Lawn, IL. Oak Lawn had a great Independence Day parade that we could walk to and enjoy. But to see fireworks, we'd need to drive to one of the areas, usually a local high school field, to view the professional fireworks display. There was plenty of local noise makers, and our alley would be a mess the following day. We learned that things were much different in Homer Glen. As we were driving home from my son's house ... Living on the edge - of Orland Park and Homer Glen, that is. When Homer Glen was incorporated 10 years ago, most of my subdivision and nearby subdivisions just west of Will-Cook Rd. had an Orland Park address. The post office gave the residents a choice of taking the new Homer Glen address or keeping the old Orland Park address. The owners of my house at the time chose to keep Orland Park. I can understand why they wouldn't want to change. Orland Park has a higher average sales price than Hom... Read Full Post
I would like to introduce my new team member, my husband James Herter. He couldn't have gotten his license at a better time. I have just had major surgery and James held the team together and was able to continue doing business while helping me recuperate. James worked many years with Vee See Construction, which is based in Oak Lawn. He was an estimator and job supervisor for commercial construction. His construction background gives him a head start on residential real estate. James is also ... Read Full Post
The table below shows sales statistics for single family Homer Glen homes for sale from 2007 to 2010, divided into quarters for each year (with the exception of 2007). It displays homes up for sale vs. those that were under contract during that time frame and the homes that actually sold and closed. It also presents days on market for the three different statuses. Because of the size of the graph, you might have to zoom in to view it best. You can see the different amounts of homes up for sal... Read Full Post
Pretty - Palos Park is a beautiful southwest Chicago suburb and many people dream of living there. There are forest preserves, green land, lakes and walking trails. You might see a donkey or a horse in the village, and you can't say that about most southwest Chicago suburbs. Prestigious - When we purchased a home in 2003, one of our favorites was a Palos Park home for sale. It was at the top of our price range and needed a lot of work. It was on a huge lot with a forest preserve on the edge a... Read Full Post
I hate winter and I always say if I never saw snow again it wouldn't be too soon. But even I marveled at the beauty of our first snow. Now that I live in the Orland Park/Homer Glen area (I have an Orland Park address but we're really located in Homer Glen - long story), I'm enjoying the beautiful snowy winter views, for now. As you can see from the photo above, there are sections of 104th Ave. where you are driving under a canopy of trees. Of course, the negative Nelly in me wondered how much... Read Full Post
Why would you be interested in Homer Glen homes and real estate? It is the newest incorporated Chicago suburb, marking it's 10th anniversary next year (2011). Although there were already subdivisions and homes prior to Homer Glen's incorporation, the area is newer and ever-growing. The area offers a more rural feel as many subdivsions do not have sidewalks, and there is a lot of green space left untouched. There is a mix of existing homes and shopping with newer construction and newer shops a... Read Full Post
Why Orland Park? Orland Park has been listed in Money Magazine's Top 100 Best Places to Live list. I don't remember what their criteria was, but with 50 states it isn't easy to get on that list. There is so much to do in Orland Park that you don't need to go anywhere else. Orland Park IL provides all kinds of shopping, dining and entertainment. But if you do want to go elsewhere, Orland Park has public transportation including bus service and 3 Metra train stations. Depending where you live i... Read Full Post
