Having Fun with my New Gmail Themes

Gmail Themes

If I had all the time in the world I'd have even more blogs and websites than I do now.  I love having different looks, niches and skins/templates.  To me, geek that I am, having a collection of pretty looking websites/blogs is right up there (and may have surpassed) my love for shoes.

So I feel like a giddy kid at Christmas (I'm a cheap date) to find new skins for my Gmail account.  Right now I'm loving the Desk theme and the Teahouse is a pretty color but you can't see any graphics until you scroll all the way down with that one.

I'm not sure which theme it is, but at least one changes from day to night and asks you where your location is.  I think if it's raining where you are it will rain in your Gmail theme!  Want wet e-mails?

Another favorite is the Candy theme.  But I'm dieting and that food makes me hungry.  Just looking at it makes me want to jump up and find my hidden box of Hot Tamale candies.  I've got to get rid of that one and get the Desk back.

New Themes Are Like a New Outfit

I used to spend a lot of time playing with paper dolls and Barbies, constantly changing their clothes (they don't make Barbie clothes like they used to).  Now I play with my websites and blogs, changing their looks when the urge hits.

I recently made some changes to my REW site by making the template wider and adding the Featured Listings module.  I will be putting a Thanksgiving background next week on my Active Rain blog now that we can customize them.  I constantly change up my Blogger theme and my one standalone blog.  And I've spent hours changing my Point 2 site's themes, including my South Chicago real estate blog.  I used to change up my two REW site's built-in Wordpress blogs but can no longer access them so will be leaving them alone for now.

If you use Gmail and don't have the new themes yet it sounds like they're rolling them out.  So your's should be coming.  Have fun!

Judy several years ago I used to spend a lot of time customizing my yahoo home page.  I really enjoyed playing with the themes, creating news feeds, it almost makes me want to log into my yahoo account right now.  That was back when I wasn't selling real estate. I do admit that I have played a little with the new gmail themes.

Carolyn, it could be a girl thing.  I can't imagine most men could care less about what their Google (or any e-mail account) looks like!  Although I did see a lot of guys posting about it on some forum.

When I first got the notificaton about the new themes I couldn't get it to work.  So I had to do a search.  I figured it out myself - I had a g-mail extension on Firefox that was preventing the themes to show so I just turned it off.

For some reason I just love the Desk theme!  I always look forward to going through my e-mail but this makes it better!

Hey! That's not true. I spend TONS of time customizing the look of my various blogs, websites and profiles.

I haven't had a chance to look at the Gmail themes since I just made an account.. but I'm lookin' forward to it!

That's good to hear.  I realize we're all different and some people prefer plain, vanilla looking themes.  I don't like my theme to distract from the actual content but I do like to have my sites and blogs look nice and interesting.

I'm on my e-mail so much during the day it's nice to have that look a bit different, too.  The nice thing about the Gmail themes is it is so easy to change it up - just a click and it's changed!
